Nouja, als je elke dag met Israel bezig bent, dan weet je het op een gegeven moment wel, ze zijn geen dikke vrienden met hun buren. Maar even wat struinen op het internet toont aan hoe diepgeworteld het conflict en de haat eigenlijk zit. Je gaat wat beter snappen hoe klem Israël zit, en dat een oplossing ver, maar dan ook héél ver weg is.

Vanmiddag stuitte ik tegen vertalingen van verschillende manifesten en handvesten van de anti-Israël organisaties als Hamas en Hezbollah. En ook al wist ik het ‘van horen zeggen’, toch schrik je als je het nog eens zo zwart op wit leest.

Even een klein testje, moet je deze uittreksels eerst lezen (ik heb even de vrijheid genomen om e.e.a. te onderstrepen), en dan eens kijken of je kunt raden van welke Palestijnse organisatie deze afkomstig is.

Article 15 The liberation of Palestine, from an Arab viewpoint, is a national (qawmi) duty and it attempts to repel the Zionist and imperialist aggression against the Arab homeland, and aims at the elimination of Zionism in Palestine. Absolute responsibility for this falls upon the Arab nation – peoples and governments – with the Arab people of Palestine in the vanguard. Accordingly, the Arab nation must mobilize all its military, human, moral, and spiritual capabilities to participate actively with the Palestinian people in the liberation of Palestine. It must, particularly in the phase of the armed Palestinian revolution, offer and furnish the Palestinian people with all possible help, and material and human support, and make available to them the means and opportunities that will enable them to continue to carry out their leading role in the armed revolution, until they liberate their homeland.

Nee dit is niet van terroristen als Hamas of Hezbollah. Dit is artikel 15 van de PLO, letterlijk overgenomen. Voor de mensen die het niet weten: de PLO, dat is die ‘gematigde’ Palestijnse organisatie die het (min of meer) voor het zeggen heeft in Judea en Samaria. Met die nette man, Mahmoud Abbas, die op de koffie gaat bij Obama, die goeie vrienden is met Turkije en soms zelfs wil ‘onderhandelen’ met Netanyahu.
Maar laat ik even verder gaan met het handvest van deze mijnheer Abbas, het wordt er niet echt vrolijker op.

Article 19: The partition of Palestine in 1947 and the establishment of the state of Israel are entirely illegal, regardless of the passage of time, because they were contrary to the will of the Palestinian people and to their natural right in their homeland, and inconsistent with the principles embodied in the Charter of the United Nations, particularly the right to self-determination.

Nou, dan weten we dat ook weer. De Israel-critici die vinden dat de VN-grenzen uit 1947 de rechtvaardige grenzen van Israël zijn: PLO is het niet met jullie eens. Sterker nog: de legitimiteit van de staat Israël in z’n geheel wordt door hen ontkend. Een illegitieme beweging, waarvan het bestaan verboden moet worden. Lees maar:

Article 23: The demand of security and peace, as well as the demand of right and justice, require all states to consider Zionism an illegitimate movement, to outlaw its existence, and to ban its operations, in order that friendly relations among peoples may be preserved, and the loyalty of citizens to their respective homelands safeguarded. 

En dan besluiten ze als volgt:

Article 30: Fighters and carriers of arms in the war of liberation are the nucleus of the popular army which will be the protective force for the gains of the Palestinian Arab people.

Lekker. En dit is nog PLO, de gematigde club. Ik heb jullie nog niks verteld over Hamas en Hezbollah. Je zou geneigd zijn om maar eens een cursus Arabisch te gaan doen, om te weten te komen wat die mensen nog meer te zeggen hebben aan hun volk, maar wat onze oortjes niet bereikt.

Tijd maar weer om goed te gaan bidden voor Israël, want niet alleen dit soort feitenmateriaal toont het aan dat Israël vreselijk gehaat wordt en alleen staat, maar vooral het zwijgen van de wereld, van de ‘vrienden’ van Israël, dat is misschien nog wel het grootste gevaar.
